THE RED DRAGONS TEAM

The Red Dragons were formed in 2008 as a way to give an interest to the
younger club members and to attempt to introduce more young people into
the club.

They started off playing friendlies against other cultural sides and
then began to enter local tournaments. The first of these was the
7-a-side Ethnic Soccer Cup, held at the annual Auckland International
Cultural Festival, which features teams and players from over 30
countries from all around the World.  The Pasifika 11-a-side Tournament
came next, where consistent performances saw them make the Plate final
and come away with the trophy.

In 2009, more promising displays saw them make the finals of the Ethnic
Soccer Cup where they lost to the eventual winners in a penalty shoot
out, and in the Pasifika tournament they made the semi-finals, again
losing to the eventual winners.

Following the success of these tournaments the team entered the ASFA
Sunday league in division 5 and has gone from strength to strength, only
missing out on promotion by a couple of places.
